Our Diamonds
We sell only GIA or AGS certified diamonds. Mark Patterson began his career in jewelry at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) as an instructor for the gemologist program. As part of his training, Mark worked in the GIA diamond grading laboratory in New York City. You have probably read about the 4C’s: Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat. However, there is far more to know about diamonds in order to get the maximum beauty, performance and value.
Cut
While Mark understands that very few can afford a “perfect” diamond, he believes that cut is the one place to not compromise. Almost all diamonds that Mark sells are graded “Excellent Cut, Excellent Symmetry, Excellent Polish. These diamonds are referred to in the trade as “triple X” cut. Certain percentages for table size and total depth will also have an effect on performance, beauty and value.
Color & Clarity
Another detail to understand is that the color and clarity grades are brackets, meaning that not all SI1 clarities are the same. There are “good” SI1 clarities near the better VS2 clarity and there are “lower” SI1 grades closer to the lower SI2 grade. In fact, this could mean the difference between seeing the inclusion (flaw) with the unaided eye or not.
